A picnic wouldn’t be a picnic without a good spread so we’ve teamed up with Change Kitchen who will be cooking up delicious food for our SONICpicnic on Friday 29th July.
Here’s a bit of info about them…
Change Kitchen is a new and exciting social enterprise, registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC), and co-founded by trainer and long term caterer and cook Dr Birgit Kehrer and the well-established Birmingham charity SIFA Fireside. Birgit and her team are ‘Cooking up Change’ by creating delicious catering for all kinds of corporate, private, public and third sector event – from 10 to 400 in Birmingham and beyond, whilst offering training, paid work placements and a stepping stone into employment to those facing social exclusion.
When asked, ‘Why do you believe in Birmingham? Birgit answered,
“I every much see myself as an adopted Brummie. I really enjoy living in Birmingham with its vibrant communities celebrating difference and diversity, and this positively influences our creativity in cooking, both benefitting ChangeKitchen’s menus and ultimately its customers! Because of this and because I am very aware that there are many problems facing Birmingham, I founded Change Kitchen in Birmingham in order to help to make a difference: our event catering facilitates, enlivens and invigorates events, such as weddings, corporate events, conferences, and lunches – you won’t find boring sandwiches on our menus as we make bespoke dishes for each individual event! Our work towards ‘Cooking up Change’ extends to the general public by delivering fun and inspiring healthy eating cookery classes, for community groups as well as for team building exercises for public or private sector businesses.”
