Bit-Phalanx presents: Coppe’ / Modified Toy Orchestra / T-toe & more Thu 6 Oct 2011, 8pm Hare & Hounds, Birmingham Often described as “The lost daughter of Aphex Twin & Björk”, the legendary godmother of Japanese Electronica, Coppe’ (pronounced: “Co-Pay”) heads to the UK this Autumn for a rare and exclusive tour.
After pioneering her own Mango + Sweetrice Records label in 1995, Coppe’ has followed with a bewildering career of collaborating with the finest electronic pioneers of our generation (including Plaid, The Orb, Red Snapper, Atom TM, DJ Vadim and Nobuzaku Takemura, to name but a few), as well as seeking out the freshest emerging and even unsigned talent to produce with. Coppe’ has secured herself a mighty international cult following, as well as a fierce reputation as one of Japan’s best kept secrets. As of 2011, Coppe’ teamed with the artists on one of the UK’s most diverse emerging electronic labels, Bit-Phalanx, for a series of collaborative and remix projects. To showcase these projects, Coppe’ will be joined on the tour by Bit-Phalanx, who will be showcasing a selection of their roster’s finest live acts at each event, as well as other very legendary guest artists along the way, all promising to make for one of 2011′s most diverse, unique and memorable electronic music events. Very special guests on the night include the fantastic, unique and utterly charming Modified Toy Orchestra. Birmingham based destroyers of your favourite childhood toys, these fine gents circuit bend, tweak and modify classic toys live on stage to bring a wonderfully unique ensemble of the finest electronic melodies that becomes the restored soundtrack to our youth. The MTO join us at the Hare & Hounds with an exclusive “Casio Duo” set. Bit-Phalanx stalwart and Trombone tooting, rave-pop, electro dubstepper, T-toe, will also be bringing his sounds, amongst other special live acts and DJs still to be announced.
