After studying music at the conservatoires of Montauban and Montpellier (France) and the University Paul Valéry (Montpellier), Julien Guillamat is now completing a PhD in composition with Jonty Harrison at the University of Birmingham (UK).
Interpretation of acousmatic music and sound systems are being investigated as part of his doctorate. In 2010 he obtained a joint first prize from ‘L’espace du Son’ (Brussels, Belgium). His music follows the French tradition of musique concrète and acousmatic music. He’s recently been finalist of the International Composition Competition METAMORPHOSES in Brussels.
He is an active member of Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre (BEAST) and his music has been performed across Europe.
Julien actively collaborates with other artists.
