Our next event is coming up in a few weeks and we are delighted to be hosting the Birmingham leg of the first Mopomoso tour.

MOPOMOSO stands for MOdernismPOstMOdernism SO what? and was founded in 1991 by guitarist John Russell and pianist, trumpeter and composer Chris Burn to promote improvised music and its relationship to other forms of contemporary music making. Mopomoso has since then presented hundreds of concerts, special events and workshops.

Mopomoso will be bringing a host of artists to the SOUNDkitchen stage inluding Evan Parker, John Edwards, John Russell, Pat Thomas, Alison Blunt, Benedict Taylor, David Leahy, Kay Grant and Alex Ward.

And if that’s not enough, local improvisors Chris Mapp, Sam Wooster and Mike Hurley will be performing as There Is Hope. Formed for the 2012 Rosie Kay Dance Company production of the same name, this free improvisation trio will play music inspired by the show’s themes of religion, belief, and much more.

Join us on April 23 2013 at the Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath. For more information about the acts and to book tickets please see our events page.
